FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHEN DO PRACTICES START FOR THE FALL SIDELINE SEASON?

Practices for the fall sideline season begin typically mid August.

All RYC teams will practice Tuesday evenings, and the 7/8 team will also practice on Monday evenings. All cheer practices will be held at Forest Hills Central High School.

Tumbling practices will be held on Sundays at Grand Rapids Gymnastics.

A more specific schedule will be communicated to you with the days, times and locations of practices in advance.

ARE PRACTICES REQUIRED FOR FALL SIDELINE CHEER?

Please try your best to get your child to practice.  Cheerleading is a team sport.  If your child misses practice, it does impact the rest of the team, especially if the team is stunting during that practice.  If your child must miss a practice, please make sure to let the team parent and coaches know in advance.

WHO WILL BE COACHING MY CHILD?

All RYC teams will be coached in cheerleading by Forest Hill Central varsity cheerleaders, and will be coached in tumbling by instructors at Grand Rapids Gymnastics.  Specific coaches will be assigned after registration.

HOW CAN I HELP THE PROGRAM?

RYC cannot continue without parent volunteers. We are in need of board members, and these volunteer opportunities are  also currently available:

  • practice chaperone(s)

  • game day chaperone(s)

  • volunteer coordinator

  • calendar coordinator

  • uniform coordinator

It is our hope that all parents will volunteer in some capacity, so that this program can continue!

WHAT DOES THE REGISTRATION FEE COVER?

The cheer registration fee covers the following for fall sideline cheer:

  • The cheer uniform and bag

  • A T-shirt and hair bow – yours to keep

  • Tumbling classes

  • One - two weeknight practices per week

  • FHPS building use fees and insurance

  • End of season certificates

  • Administrative fees

Our uniforms are from GTM.  See the images below for sizing information and measuring tips.
